blackies wave checker/nose-riding/donut shop cruiser..........
power flex 5`s.................post loose bearings
before krypto`s and mid eighties shaped skateboards, there were metaflex wheels. they were the first gen after the urethane orangey/clear wheels that changed the sport. the wider ones were the dragsters and the ones that were later adapted by modern style wheels were called easy riders........
a few of my originals..................the second one from the left was the `barracuda`. i had an original zephyr that a fat guy in seventh grade broke in half. he said my stepdad was a cheap-ass and bought me a defective board. fuckin fat ass trying to make my mom`s husband look bad......
i clearly was into burning iron crosses on my boards.......
white clay ward hawthornes, hobie then made the white super surfers.............
metaflex easyriders...................................
power paws...............
FOR ALL THE LOCAL SKATERS THAT SKATE THE OUTDOOR VOLCOM PARK BY THE FAIRGROUNDS.......IF YOU TURN OFF OF NEWPORT BLVD. AND MAKE A RIGHT ONTO ARLINGTON BY THE VOLCOM PARK, YOU CAN DIG STRAIGHT DOWN NEXT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THERE IS A 4 1/2 FOOT DEEP PERFECT HALF PIPE DRAINAGE DITCH THE HAS A PERFECT BOWL ON THE END CLOSEST TO NEWPORT BLVD. THEY FILLED IT IN WHEN THE CITY STARTED CATCHING KIDS SKATING IT AND BOARDS WERE FLYING OUT INTO THE TRAFFIC. WE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS, 5TH,6TH AND 7TH GRADE. STILL TRYING TO FIND THE PICTURES GUYS HAD TAKEN OF IT BACK THEN. FUCK IT. BOUGHT MY FIRST URETHANES AT HANIFINS SURF SHOP WHEN HE WAS FIRST ON 22ND ST, THE STOREFRONT NEXT TO THE ALLEY. I THINK IT`S A NAILSHOP NOW. ACTUALLY, PAT HANIFIN GAVE THEM TO ME FOR CLEANING UP AROUND THE SHOP. PAT SOLD EVERTHING AND BECAME A COMEDIAN AFTER APPEARING ON THE GONG SHOW AND THINKING HE WAS FUNNY.... HE ACTUALLY WAS.
