Auschwitz/Birkenau, Poland

everytime i walked out of one of the buildings, feeling my footsteps stink into the worn wooden steps where so many had walked at one time, i would look up into the sky and around at the other buildings and trees...............it was so weird
.....there were no birds anywhere.......we drove to poland, all the way from prague and we saw birds everywhere...... it seems as if they knew that something very bad happened here. total trip. but i kinda think everything is a total trip.

the center board is a Hanifin, signed by Pat Hanifin. Hanifin Surf Shop was THE shop in newport beach. my first custom board came from here from Pat (actually peter schoff shaped it, pat was becoming too big of a hotshot) for working at his shop as slave labor. "If you gonna sit around my shop all day, fuckin` clean some of this shit up Nash", wiping the spit off his mouth, " You think you can just surf all day then come in here and hang out? This look like a clubhouse? I`m making money unlike you." i wish i still had that board... 6` 10`` rounded diamond tail light orange deck/dark orange bottom, white pin stripe. Pat got on the Gong Show and did some comedy and thought he was funny and eventually sold the shop once it got big and pursued his comedic career. What the hell happened to Pat Hanifin. such is the case.

It`s the first world war and a soldier wakes up in a hospital room after being blasted by an artillery gun.............. arms, legs, and face are gone. he is trapped in his body. tries to smother himself with his pillow but they have a trach job on him. he drifts between reality and fantasy and finds a way to comunicate and wants to go around in a glass case so people can really see the reality of war without all the heroic glamour. the officials say no.................. i`m sure most of you have read this book but it still has got to go on my list of books that i keep adding to this mess of an ego trip. read and provoke thought and dialogue.......................or not.
